SOCRATES POCKET — DATA DELETION
Last Updated: May 25, 2026
This page explains how to request deletion of data Socrates Pocket holds or processes about you, what gets deleted, and what is retained for legal reasons. Socrates Pocket is operated by Cankat Saraç, an individual developer based in Hull, United Kingdom.
Quick summary
Socrates Pocket does not require an account. The vast majority of your data — your sessions, journal entries, insights, language preference, and usage counter — lives only on your device. Deleting the app from your phone removes all of it. No request to us is required.
The only data we (or our service providers) hold off your device is:
- An anonymous purchase identifier generated by RevenueCat if you have ever subscribed to Pro or purchased Lifetime
- PostHog product-analytics events keyed to an anonymous, per-install identifier
- Conversation content that was briefly processed by AI providers (Rork, Anthropic, OpenAI, Google) at the moment you sent it; none of these providers retain it for our account beyond their standard short-term operational policies
To have us delete what we control, follow the steps below.
How to request deletion
Option 1 — Email (recommended)
Send an email to dev@teampire.uk with the subject line:
> Data deletion request — Socrates Pocket
In the email body, please include:
- The platform on which you used the app (iOS App Store or Google Play)
- The country of your store account
- If possible, your RevenueCat anonymous ID (you can find it inside the app under Settings → About if available) or the order ID of any purchase receipt
We will:
1. Acknowledge your request within 5 working days. 2. Complete the deletion request within 30 days, in line with UK GDPR Article 12 timelines. 3. Reply to your email confirming what was deleted and what was retained for legal reasons (e.g., tax records of past purchases).
Option 2 — Uninstall the app
If you only want to delete the data stored on your device (sessions, journal, insights, preferences), the fastest method is to uninstall the app from your phone. This:
- Removes all on-device data immediately
- Does not remove RevenueCat purchase records (those are retained by RevenueCat and Apple/Google as long as the subscription is active and beyond, for tax reasons)
- Does not remove PostHog analytics events tied to the anonymous identifier (those expire on the schedule below)
What gets deleted, by data category
| Data category | Where it lives | What happens on request |
|---|---|---|
| Sessions, journal, insights, preferences | On your device only | Removed when you uninstall the app; we have no copy to delete |
| RevenueCat anonymous purchase identifier and purchase history | RevenueCat servers | Deleted from RevenueCat on our request within 30 days of receiving your email |
| PostHog analytics events tied to your anonymous install ID | PostHog servers | Deleted from PostHog on our request within 30 days; events are also auto-purged after 12 months as part of our retention policy |
| Conversation content that was sent to AI providers | Not retained by us; held briefly by AI providers per their policies | Subject to each AI provider's own retention policy; we will forward your deletion request to each provider on request |
What is retained after a deletion request
Some data must be retained for legal and accounting reasons even after you request deletion:
| Retained data | Retention period | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Subscription transaction records held by Apple / Google | Per Apple and Google policies | Their statutory obligation |
| Purchase records required for tax compliance | Up to 6 years from the end of the relevant tax year | UK tax law (HMRC record-keeping requirements) |
| Aggregated, fully de-identified analytics counts (no per-user identifier) | Indefinite | Permitted under UK GDPR; not personal data once de-identified |
Apple's and Google's retained purchase records are governed by their own privacy policies and are not under our control. To delete data held by Apple or Google directly, contact those companies.
If you do not hear back
If you have not received a reply within 30 days, please:
1. Re-send the request, in case your original was filtered or missed. 2. If still no reply, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or with your local data protection authority if you live elsewhere in the EU/EEA.
